Gary Segal

Gary Segal is a Founding Principal of Dynamic Star and a 30-year veteran of New York City's construction industry. Gary took over his small family electrical contracting company in 1991 upon his father's untimely death. At that time as President and Chief Executive Officer, he grew Five Star Electric from a 35 employee company to a 1,500 employee organization.

Gary started acquiring mid-size electrical contracting companies in the NYC area as well as growing organically. In total, Five Star acquired thirteen (13) contractors in a fifteen year period, becoming the largest electrical contractor in New York, doing over $550 million a year in revenues in the outer boroughs alone.

In 2007, Gary merged Five Star with the largest plumbing and mechanical contractor in the City and a private equity firm to create GreenStar Services.  Approximately four years later, GreenStar was sold to Tutor Perini Corp, a large General Contractor, for over $200 million.

Five Star continued to be ranked #1 in the New York Metropolitan area and #10 in the Country in Engineering News Record. When Gary left Five Star in January 2016, Five Star had over $1.1 billion in backlog. Some of Five Star's highly-profiled projects were the new Tower One (Freedom Tower), the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and the new PATH Station, all at the rebuild at old WTC site, the electrification of the East Side Access Tunnel, the renovation of Madison Square Garden and CitiField, to name a few.

Gary is on the Board of Directors of National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), the Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry (JIB), the Subcontractors Trade Association (STA) and the Building Trades Employees Association (BTEA) and the Building Congress Foundation.
